Handing Out Flashlights In A Dark World

I never set out to write a devotional. I simply wanted to draw closer to the Lord.
A few years ago, a friend encouraged me to share what God was teaching me during my morning time in Scripture. I began sending a small group text: simple reflections on what the Lord stirred in my heart. Nothing polished. No agenda. Only the quiet truth He impressed upon me.
The messages grew longer. The group became larger. Over time, someone remarked that these reflections could be compiled into a devotional so that others might benefit as well. I prayed, waited, and kept writing. What you see on this site is the fruit of that journey.
The greatest tragedy is not failure. It’s success in the wrong assignment. The world does not require more men and women who accomplish much. It needs faithful obedience to a mission already given.
I became convinced that one of the most subtle strategies of the enemy is not rebellion, but distraction. We do not suddenly choose to abandon God. Instead, we drift. Quietly, one degree at a time. Not denying our purpose, yet gradually forgetting it.
My prayer is that these pages awaken you from that drift and recenter you to the purpose He has uniquely given you.
Every devotional on Stay on Mission is grounded in verse-by-verse exposition of the New Testament. These are made available M/W/F, walking through Scripture one passage at a time. Each entry is under 3-7 minutes long and includes an AI audio version for easy consumption: a passage, an exposition, reflection questions, and a closing call to stay on mission.
The primary translation is the English Standard Version (ESV), with NASB, NKJV, KJV, NIV, and NLT referenced for comparison and clarity. The current series includes a walk through the Sermon on the Mount, the Beatitudes in Matthew 5, and The Lord’s Prayer.
The authors who have shaped my thinking most deeply include Charles Spurgeon, John MacArthur, Warren Wiersbe, A.W. Tozer, John Piper, J. Sidlow Baxter, D.L. Moody, and C.S. Lewis.
Guest authors are welcome to write. In the fall, we will be launching a new series called Warrior Voices. If you are interested in joining us, send me an email.
