Boots On, Shields Up

2 Peter 3:1-2 “This is now the second letter that I am writing to you, beloved. In both of them, I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder that you should remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior through your apostles.”

Ever heard the statement, “management is in the moment”? It’s true. Managers don’t get to coach from a distance. They support, correct, and reinforce while the work is happening. You can’t wait months and expect someone to recall a specific decision, a tone, or a moment of integrity. The best shaping happens shoulder to shoulder, in real time.

Same in leadership and parenting. Catch them doing the right thing and reward them. Notice the drift early and coach it in the moment.

That’s Peter’s posture here. He’s not introducing new ideas as much as he’s calling believers back to what they already know. Remember the prophecies. Remember the command of the Lord. Remember what you’ve been taught, because pressure has a way of erasing what was clear.

Management shapes what’s happening today. Leadership points to what’s coming. Peter is doing both as he closes: anchoring their memory and preparing their future.

Today, reflect, remember, and recharge.
Calm seasons don’t last forever. Storms will come. Don’t forget your training.
